The Bowling Green State University women's golf team had four players named Academic All-MAC, announced by the Mid-American Conference office. Amy Ruthenberg and Shelby Wilson earned All-MAC status, while Bailey Arnold and Patricia Holt were named Honorable Mention.
The last Falcon to earn Academic All-MAC was Carley Hrusovsky during the 2007-08 campaign and the last time two Falcons were named All-MAC in the same season was back in 2002-03, when the duo of Shelley Binzel and Jenny Schnipke captured that feat.
Ruthenberg completed her Falcon career just a few weeks ago with a 3.932 grade-point average, while majoring in human movement sport and leisure. This past season she averaged 78.55, while recording four top-10 finishes for the Orange and Brown. Her best finish of the season came at the Cleveland State Invitation (75-82), finishing sixth.
Wilson maintains a 3.946 GPA, while majoring in pre-nursing. The junior-to-be averaged 78.65 through 23 rounds of action, the fourth-lowest single season scoring average in the history of BGSU women's golf. Wilson finished fourth at the Butler Fall Invite (71-80) and was fifth at the Rio Verde Invitational (72-75) for her top performances of the season.
Arnold, a biology major, has a 3.365 GPA, completing her third year at Bowling Green. The senior-to-be averaged 77.87 in 2012-13, the lowest single season scoring average in BGSU history. Arnold had six top-10 finishes this past season, including finishing third at the Cleveland State Invitational (77-76) and The Preview (77-75).
Holt finished her second season with the Orange and Brown with a 3.728 GPA, while majoring in sports management. Holt averaged 78.95 through 21 rounds of action, ranking in the top-10 in BGSU history. The Frisco, Texas, native tied for fourth at both the Butler Fall Invitational (74-77) and the Angola Shootout (76).
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50% of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
