Softball Set To Begin 2014 With Opening Day Just 11 Days Away

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University softball season is less than two weeks away from the opening pitch to start the 2014 season. The Falcons, who finished fourth last season in the East Division with a 9-13 Mid-American Conference record, will begin the 2014 season at the Viking Indoor Tournament versus Cleveland State University on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 11 a.m.
Head coach Shannon Salsburg enters her eighth season at the helm of the Orange and Brown, finishing 2013 with a 27-24 overall record. Coach Salsburg's 27 wins last season gave her the second most wins in program history. Monica Wright (3rd season), Kolleen Kopchak (1st season), and volunteer assistant Courtney Cox will join Salsburg in 2014. The Falcons are scheduled to play 24 games away from Meserve Field to begin the season, before hosting Western Michigan on Friday, March 28 in a MAC conference tilt.
