Jacob Roth Named MAC P-O-W by College Sports Madness

Sophomore defender earns weekly honor from website
Bowling Green State University men's soccer standout Jacob Roth has been named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week by College Sports Madness. Roth, a sophomore defender, earns the honor for the first time in his Falcon career.

Falcons Receive Votes in College Soccer News National Poll
BGSU ranked Eighth in NSCAA Regional Poll
Roth, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, scored his first collegiate goal on Tuesday night (Oct. 7). That goal came in overtime in his hometown, as Roth hammered home a free kick for the Falcons' first 'Golden Goal' of the season in a 1-0 victory at Cleveland State.
Roth and the Falcons have allowed just one goal over the last four games, and that lone goal came on a penalty kick in BGSU's 1-0 loss vs. Akron Saturday night (Oct. 11). At the offensive end of the pitch, Roth has been involved in the scoring of seven BG goals this season, with a goal and a team-leading six assists. At the other end of the field, Roth and the Falcons have surrendered just seven goals all year.
Roth has started all 12 matches for the Falcons this fall, and has played 1,053 of the team's 1,104 minutes this season to date.
In other BGSU men's soccer news, the Falcons received votes in the College Soccer News national poll on Monday (Oct. 13). BG earned votes in that poll for the fourth consecutive week. And, on Tuesday, BGSU was ranked eighth in the Great Lakes Region in the NSCAA/Continental Tire regional poll.
The Falcons, 9-3-0, host Buffalo on Saturday evening (Oct. 18) in a Mid-American Conference match at Cochrane Field. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m., and admission is free.
