Roth, Rae Named Pizza Hut Athletes Of The Week
November 17, 2014 | General, Men's Soccer, Women's Cross Country
Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Pizza Hut Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are men's soccer player Jacob Roth and women's cross country runner Becca Rae.

Male Athlete of the Week
Jacob Roth, a sophomore from Cleveland, Ohio, scored a goal in each game as the BGSU men's soccer team advanced to the championship match of the MAC Tournament. Roth, who was named to the MAC All-Tournament Team, scored the tying goal with just over eight minutes left in regulation as the Falcons earned a 3-2, come-from-behind win over West Virginia in the semifinals. In the championship, he scored on a free kick to give BGSU a 1-0 lead in the second half against host Akron before the Zips rallied for a 2-1 win.
Female Athlete of the Week
Becca Rae, a junior from Orillia, Ontario, recorded a 64th place finish at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Meet Friday, the top individual finish at the meet for a BGSU runner since 2007. Her time of 21:27 was just one second shy of the fastest time ever recorded by a BGSU student-athlete at the regional championship. She led the team to a 13th place finish out of 32 teams, the best BGSU team result since 2006.
