Rinker Takes Fifth, as Falcons Finish Sixth at MAC Men’s Golf Championships

wrapped up his four-year career at Bowling Green with a 73, +1, on Sunday, giving him a 26th-place finish in his final intercollegiate event. The Massachusetts native shot rounds of 72, 73, 84 and 73 to finish the three-day event with nine birdies and a 72-hole score of 302, +14.
With four birdies on the final day of play, junior Ryan Triller carded a round of 78, +6, to finish in a tie for 33rd-place overall. Triller, who had seven birdies on the weekend, recorded rounds of 76, 77, 74 and 78 to finish with a combined score of 305, +17.
Jose Narro carded his lowest round of the three-day event with a 73, +1, on Sunday, as the freshman tallied four birdies on the day. With rounds of 76, 76, 80 and 73, Narro finished his first MAC Championship event tied for 33rd overall with seven birdies and a 72-hole score of 305, +17.
Rounding out the Falcons' squad was Joe Cooper with his final round 83, +11. The junior posted rounds of 75, 77, 78 and 83 to finish in 40th overall with his combined four-round score of 313, +25. Like Narro, Cooper tallied seven birdies overall, but also registered an eagle on hole-3 in his second round of play on Friday.
Despite shooting a round of 303, +15, on Sunday, Kent State's lead was large enough to keep the Golden Flashes in first-place overall with a combined score of 1155, +3. Akron took second-place with a combined 72-hole score of 1165, +13, while Toledo finished in third with their combined score of 1168, +16.
The Golden Flashes' Corey Conners earned medalist honors with rounds of 72, 67, 65 and 73 to take first-place overall with his tournament low 72-hole score of 277, -11 under par.
The Falcons finished the year with four top-five team finishes – second at The Greenbrier Collegiate Invitational, fourth at both the John Piper Intercollegiate and the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational, and fifth at the Cabo del Sol Intercollegiate – and had 10 different top-10 individual finishes headlined by Narro's first-place win at The Greenbrier Collegiate Invitational.
BGSU posted a team stroke average of 295.03 over 124 rounds of play on the season, including a team-low round 276 at the Quail Valley Invitational. The Falcons also recorded an individual stroke average of 73.76 on the year as well.
