Tate Named MAC Scholar Athlete Of The Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio—Bowling Green State University's Tyler Tate was named Mid-American Conference Scholar Athlete of the Week on Wednesday morning, announced by the conference office. Tate, a redshirt junior from Carroll, Ohio, holds a 3.97 GPA in exercise science.
This past week against Indiana, Tate made a career-high four field goals, all in the first half. His three extra points gave him 15 points in the game, the second-most during his career. His four field goals, coming from 28, 38, 45, and 47 yards out, set a new Doyt L. Perry Stadium record. Tate was named MAC East Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts.
Tate and the Falcons head to Madison, Wis. this week for a showdown with the nationally-ranked Wisconsin Badgers. The game will air on ESPN2, beginning at 12:00 p.m. EST. Bowling Green is 2-1 on the season, coming off a win against Indiana. Wisconsin enters the matchup 1-1 on the year.
