Daufuskie Island, S.C. – Bowling Green State University sophomore Jose Narro carded a second round 72, even par, on Monday over the second round of play at the Rees Jones Intercollegiate held at the par 72, 7,380-yards Jones Signature Course at the Haig Point Golf Club in Daufuskie Island, South Carolina.
Narro, who posted five birdies on Monday on his way to a 72, even par, has a 36-hole combined score of 149, +5, over the first two rounds of play and finds himself in a tie for 18th-place overall heading into the final round of play on Tuesday. The sophomore carded a first round 77, +5, on Sunday.
The Falcons overall shot a combined team score of 313, +25, on Monday, and combined with its first round team score of 310, +22, on Sunday, BGSU is in 11th-place overall with a two round combined team score of 623, +47.
"Outside of Jose (Narro), we did not play well today," commented head coach Kevin Farrell. "We were not sharp mentally and made way to many mistakes out there."
Freshman Cameron Michalak, who carded a BGSU low round 76, +4, on Sunday, followed up with a 79, +7, over the second round of play to give him a 36-hole score of 155, +11, and place him in a tie for 40th overall.
On the heels of Michalak was fellow Falcon Brett Rinker who carded a second round 80, +8. Along with his first round 79, +7, Rinker will enter Tuesday's final round of play in a tie for 51st overall with his 36-hole score of 159, +15.
Both Joe Cooper and Mitchell Kontak carded rounds of 82, +10, on Monday. Cooper's rounds of 78, +6, and 82, +10, places him in a tie for 55th-place with a combined two round score of 160, +16, while Kontak dropped six strokes off his first round 88, +16, to stay put in 63rd overall with his combined 36-hole score of 170, +26.
East Carolina took over first-place overall with a team-low round of 290, +2, on Monday to give them a two round combined team score of 576, even par. Kennesaw State, who entered the day in first-place, is now in second-place with a team score of 578, +2, while Winthrop climbed up a spot to third with a combined team score of 586, +10.
The Falcons will tee-off the third and final round of play tomorrow morning beginning at 8:30 a.m. on the 10th tee.
