Holmes, Ali Named Pizza Hut Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Pizza Hut Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are men's basketball player Richaun Holmes and gymnast Jamilah Ali.

Male Athlete of the Week
Richaun Holmes, a senior from Lockport, Ill., led the Falcons to a 2-0 start to Mid-American Conference play by averaging 19.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.0 blocks and 2.5 assists in wins at Kent State and over Ohio. He had 20 points on 8-of-16 shooting at Kent State and added five rebounds, four assists, three blocks and a steal in the victory. Holmes followed that up with 18 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks in a double-digit home win over Ohio.
Female Athlete of the Week
Jamilah Ali, a senior from Toms River, N.J., sparked the BGSU gymnastics team to a win over Michigan State, the team's first victory over a Big Ten opponent since 2004. She placed first in the vault with a 9.875, tying her career-best on the apparatus. She also scored a 9.775 on beam, which tied her for the second best score of the meet in the event. Her results helped BGSU achieve its best opening meet score (194.775) since 2001.
