Each of the clinics will be held at Perry Fieldhouse on the BGSU campus, and each event is open to aspiring softball players from ages 8-18.
The Elite All-Skills Clinic will be divided into two sessions. The first session will involve enhanced hitting techniques utilized by the BGSU softball student-athletes. Emphasis will be placed on advanced drill work and mental approach to the plate, as campers learn the fundamentals of hitting and techniques to maximize bat control and power.
The second session of the Elite All-Skills Clinic will provide campers the opportunity to sharpen their defensive skills and to carry out game specific strategies used at the NCAA Division-I level. Attendees will learn the fundamentals of defense and will go through various drills designed to enhance throwing accuracy, glove work and footwork. Individual sessions are priced at $60 apiece, and the cost is $100 for both sessions.
The following weekend, the Pitchers Clinic will work to enhance each pitcher's command, velocity, change of speed, and deception. An emphasis will be placed on the fastball and how the mechanics will better develop off-speed and breaking pitches. Campers' skills will be sharpened with techniques used by the BGSU pitching staff, and a short discussion on how to effectively set up hitters will also be integrated into the session.
Â
The Catchers clinic, offered that same day, will help to sharpen each catcher's throwing, blocking, and framing fundamentals. Additionally, catchers will experience realistic game situations with the opportunity to apply various catching techniques and communication skills.
All campers will receive a T-shirt. For more information or to register for the clinic, click the link near the top of the page or contact the BGSU Softball Office.
