Bowling Green, Ohio – Bowling Green State University head men's golf coach Kevin Farrell is pleased to announce the addition of local product Trey Walker (Bowling Green, Ohio/Bowling Green H.S.) to the men's golf program for Fall 2015.
"Trey is a strong, very athletic kid with a competitive drive and lots of potential," commented Coach Farrell. "We are very excited to have him join the Falcons family."
Walker, whose full name is Paul Walker, III, is a four-year varsity team member in golf for the Bowling Green High School Bobcats and head coach Chris Dill. A two-time State Qualifier as an individual in both 2014 and 2013, Walker is also a two-time First-Team All-League selection and a two-time First-Team All-District honoree. In 2012, Walker was named to the Second-Team All-League following a Third-Team All-League selection in 2011.
A member of the Toledo Junior Golf Association, Walker posted wins at both the City of Toledo Junior Golf Championship and the Ohio Big I Junior Golf Qualifier in the summer of 2014. Walker, who also lettered in basketball and baseball at BGHS, finished second overall at the Lew Osterman Memorial in 2014 and in a tie for third-place overall at the Glass City Open last June.
In the summer of 2013, Walker won the Bowling Green Junior event in June before posting back-to-back second-place showings at the Ohio Big I Junior Golf Qualifier and the Dick Thornhill Memorial in July.
Off the golf course, Walker, whose grandfather Paul Walker, Sr. lettered in basketball, tennis at Kent State from 1958-62, is a two-time Academic All-Ohio recipient and is a member of the National Honor Society. He plans to major in business at BGSU.
The Falcons will tee-off the 2015 spring season next week, Feb. 9-10, at the 2015 Barona Collegiate Cup hosted by San Diego State University in Lakeside, California.
