Falcons Travel To Indiana For Hoosier Classic

Bowling Green, Ohio – Following a tournament trip down south, the Bowling Green State University softball team will next compete at the three-day Indiana University Hoosier Classic in Bloomington, Ind. BG is slated to play a total of six games in the tourney, which runs from Friday through Sunday (March 13-15).
TOURNAMENT OPPONENTS
The Falcons compete in the opening two games of the 2015 Hoosier Classic against IPFW and North Dakota on Friday, March 13 at 11:30 am and 1:45 pm. The following day (March 14), BG plays another double header against host school IU at 2:30 pm and NDSU at 4:45 pm. In the final day of the tournament, the Orange and Brown face off against IPFW at 10:00 am and Wright State at 2:30 pm. All games will be played at Andy Mohr Field.

WHAT COACH SALSBURG IS SAYING
"The team got back on track offensively yesterday. We look to carry that into the weekend. Defensively we have to focus on each pitch, each out. When we refocus on keeping the game simple we will be back where we expect to be."
FAST START FALCONS
BGSU has now scored 25 first inning runs in the 2015 season. The Falcons started the season having scored 22 first inning runs through the team's first eight games. The Falcons highest scoring first inning was at the Cleveland State Dome Tournament (Feb. 6-8), with 10 against Canisius in BG's third game of the tournament.
LAST TIME OUT
The Falcons rallied from behind multiple times, but Penn was able to seal a 6-5 win against Bowling Green on March 10 in Clearwater, Fla. A 5th-inning run moved the Quakers past the Falcons. Haley Schrock recorded a double and a home run in the contest, scoring two runs and driving in three more. Junior Molly Holliday went 3-for-4 at the plate with one RBI.
FALCON SLUGGERS ABOVE .500
Trista Mokienko leads the team with a .575 slugging percentage this season. Aspen Searle is not far behind in second with a .545. The duo is the only two on the team with over 20 total bases in 2015. Searle has recorded 24 and Mokienko has 23.
CONFERENCE AWARDS
BGSU has received at least one MAC weekly award after two of its three tournaments this season. Junior Braiden Dillow earned MAC Pitcher-of-the-Week honors four weeks ago following the Falcons' season-opening tournament at Cleveland State. Two weeks ago, Mokienko was named MAC Player of the Week, while senior Jamie Kertes earned MAC Pitcher-of-the-Week honors for the East Division.
PRESEASON POLL
BGSU was chosen to finish sixth in the Mid-American Conference East Division in the Softball preseason coaches poll, as announced Tuesday afternoon by the league offices. Defending MAC Champions Ohio University was tabbed to be the favorite in the East Division in 2015, receiving eight out of a possible 12 first place votes. Kent State was picked to finish second with two votes, and Akron and Buffalo each received one first place vote. The Zips and Bulls were chosen to finish third and fourth, respectively. Miami was picked to finish fifth in the East, followed by BGSU in sixth to round out the East.
