March 17, 2015 | General
Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University Department of Athletics has announced that 41 BGSU student-athletes have been accepted into the 2014-15 class for Chi Alpha Sigma – the National College Athlete Honor Society.
This is the fifth class of Chi Alpha Sigma at Bowling Green after inducting an inaugural class of 50 student-athletes in 2011. The National College Athlete Honor Society was founded at DePauw University on May 17, 1996, as a student-athlete honor society for the recognition of high academic achievers and sport letter winners at the collegiate level.
In order to qualify for Chi Alpha Sigma, student-athletes must earn a varsity letter and maintain a 3.4 or higher cumulative grade point average through their junior and senior years. Bowling Green is the 10th school in the state of Ohio to have a charter, joining Mid-American Conference schools Kent State and Ohio, as well as out of state MAC schools Buffalo, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Ball State.
The student-athletes who are members of the National College Athlete Honor Society will be able to wear a cord at graduation acknowledging the achievement. They will also be recognized during BGSU's annual Athletics Honors Night on April 20. The list of new inductees is below:
