Falcons Shoot 6 Under Par on Tuesday at the Lone Star Invitational

San Antonio, Texas – The Bowling Green State University men's golf team carded a final round 282, -6 under par, to move up three spots on the final day of play and finish in ninth-place overall at the 2015 Lone Star Invitational hosted by UT-San Antonio at the Briggs Ranch Golf Club in San Antonio, Texas.
The Falcons finished the 54-hole event with a combined team score of 864, even par, to place in ninth-place overall out of the 16-team field. Bowling Green finished ahead of Santa Clara, Louisiana-Lafayette, Sacramento State, Texas State, Rice, Houston Baptist and Central Arkansas.
BGSU's three-round combined score of 864, even par, is tied for the ninth lowest 54-hole team score by a Falcons' team in the program's history, while the 18-hole round of 282, -6 under par, is tied for the 12th lowest team round in the Falcons' history.
"We had an awesome day on the course today. We played very tough over the final round of play and are finally starting to believe that we can compete," commented head coach Kevin Farrell.
On the final round of play, both Brett Rinker and Ryan Triller each posted scores of 69, -3 under par, while fellow Falcons Jose Narro and Joe Cooper each concluded the day with rounds of 72, even par.
Rinker continued his strong play on Tuesday, as the sophomore posted five birdies and 11 pars over his round of 69, -3 under par. He recorded rounds of 73, 71, and 69 to finish in a tie at 18th-place overall with a 54-hole combined score of 213, -1 under par. Over his three rounds of play, Rinker totaled 12 birdies and 33 pars.
Narro ended his three rounds of play in a tie for 31st-place overall with a 54-hole score of 217, +1. The sophomore, who posted rounds of 76, 69, and 72, over the two days of play, ended the tournament with one eagle, eight birdies and 34 pars over his 54 holes of play.
Like Rinker, Triller improved over each and every round of play at the Lone Star Invitational shooting a first round 78, +6, a second round 72, even par, and then a third round 69, -3 under par, en route to a 54-hole combined score of 219, +3. The senior finished in a tie for 41st-place overall, and posted 12 birdies and 30 pars for the tournament.
Cooper ended his two days of play in a tie for 59th-place overall with a combined score of 223, +7, and rounds of 75, 76, and 72. The senior tallied 11 birdies and 27 pars over his 54 holes of play.
BGSU freshman Cameron Michalak rounded out the Falcons lineup with scores of 70, 79, and 78 to finish with a combined score of 227, +11, and in a tie for 73rd-place overall. Including his career-low round 70, -2 under par, over the first round of play, Michalak registered eight birdies and 30 pars over his two days of play.
No. 6 nationally ranked Texas Tech won the event with a tournament record low 54-hole combined team score of 835, -29 under par, while Southeastern Louisiana, ranked No. 38 nationally, finished in second-place with a three-round combined team score of 846, -18 under par.
UTEP (850, -14 under par), North Texas (852, -12 under par) and UT-San Antonio (853, -11 under par) rounded out the top-five on the team leaderboard.
Bowling Green will return to competition on April 6-7 at the Seahawk Invitational hosted by Wagner College in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
