Friedman, Hawkins Share Team Rookie Of The Year Honors

Bowling Green, Ohio - Each year, the Bowling Green State University hockey program hands out a variety of postseason awards. For the first time this year, those award winners will be announced exclusively on BGSUFalcons.com. Listed below are each of the awards and the winners as they are unveiled.
Today's co-winners of the Rookie of the Year Award are Mark Friedman and Brandon Hawkins. Friedman anchored a defense that ranked second in the country on the penalty kill and he added two goals and 17 assists, tying for team-high honors. He had a +7 on-ice rating and blocked a team-best 64 shots for the year. Hawkins led the Falcons in scoring with 30 points, compiling a team-best 16 goals to go with 14 assists. He had four power-play goals, four game-winning goals and a penalty shot score -- all of which were team highs or tied for team-bests.
