Narro Climbs Into the Top-Five; Falcons Shoot a 292 on Saturday

Chardon, Ohio – Sophomore Jose Narro led the Falcons with a round of 69, -3 under par, on Saturday to climb into the top-five of the leaderboard, as BGSU bounced back from a tough second round to shoot a third round 292 on day two of the 2015 Mid-American Conference Men's Golf Championships held at The Mayfield Sand Ridge Club - Sand Ridge Campus in Chardon, Ohio.
With the Falcons' third round of 292, +4, on Saturday, BGSU moved into a tie for sixth-place overall with a combined three-round score of 894, +30. BGSU posted rounds of 291 and 311 over the first two rounds of play on Friday.
The Falcons are tied with Northern Illinois (894, +30) and just four strokes behind fifth-place Kent State (890, +26).
"We had a rough start today, but we were able to settle down and play some good golf," commented head coach Kevin Farrell. "I was happy with the way we responded today. This event is not over, as we still have a chance to finish in the top-five with a strong team round tomorrow. Plus, Jose has a great chance to not only earn All-MAC honors and MAC Tournament honors, but also win the tournament with a strong showing on Sunday."
Narro's third round 69, -3 under par, is the lowest 18-hole score for the Falcons thus far this weekend, as the sophomore moved into fourth-place overall with his 54-hole score of 216, even par. Narro was stellar on the day, as he recorded three birdies and 15 pars over the 18 holes of play. The Tampico, Mexico native registered rounds of 74 and 73 on Friday.
Like Narro, both Joe Cooper and Brett Rinker each posted their lowest rounds of the tournament thus far on Saturday. Cooper ended the third round of play with three birdies and 11 pars for a score of 73, +1, to finish the day in 20th-place overall with a 54-hole score of 224, +8.
Rinker bested Copper by one stroke on Saturday with his round of 72, even par. Combined with his first two rounds of 73 and 82 on Friday, the sophomore will head into the final day of play in a tie for 27th-place overall with a three-round combined score of 227, +11.
After an up and down day on Friday, Ryan Triller finished with a round of 79, +7, on Saturday which included three birdies and six pars overall. With rounds of 70, 83 and 79, the senior sits in 38th-place overall with a three-round combined score of 232, + 16, heading into the final 18 holes of play.
Cameron Michalak dropped one stroke off both his first and second round scores of 79, +7, with a round of 78, +6, on Saturday. The freshman carded two birdies, one on hole No. 5 and the second on hole No. 10, to give him a 54-hole score of 236, +20, to sit in a tie for 43rd-place overall heading into the final round of play on Sunday.
Miami held on to the team lead with a third round 294, +6, for a tournament low team score of 870, +6, after three rounds of play. Toledo (878, +14) moved up to second-place, while Ball State (881, +17) remains in third-place overall with one round to play.
BGSU will be paired up with both Ohio and Akron for the final round of play tomorrow beginning with an 11 a.m. tee-time.
