Nichols begins his seventh season at the BGSU helm, and welcomes back a total of 15 letterwinners, including eight starters, from last year's team. The 2014 Falcons went 14-6-1 overall, tying for third in the Mid-American Conference regular-season standings and advancing to the MAC Tournament's championship match for the first time in 11 years.
The 2015 team will head down I-75 for a scrimmage against Cincinnati on Saturday, Aug. 22, with the regular-season opener set for Friday, Aug. 28, vs. SIUE at BGSU's Cochrane Stadium. The SIUE match is the start of a season-long, four-game homestand for the Brown and Orange.
That homestand continues with matches vs. Drexel (Sept. 3) and Cleveland State (Sept. 6), as the Brown and Orange will play before the home fans four times in a 10-day span.
The 2015Â home schedule also includes games against IPFW (Sept. 18), Michigan State (Sept. 29), Northern Illinois (Oct. 3) and West Virginia (Oct. 24). All BGSU men's soccer home matches are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. with the exception of the WIU and WVU (both 1:00 p.m.) contests. Admission to all Falcon home soccer action is free.
