August 28, 2015 | Women's Basketball
Falcons' league slate includes two three-game homestands, home-and-home series with UT
The Mid-American Conference office has announced the conference women's basketball schedule for the 2015-16 season, and the Bowling Green State University Falcons will play a challenging 18-game league schedule again this winter. That conference slate includes a pair of three-game homestands at the Stroh Center, as well as two contests against the arch-rival University of Toledo.

The '15-16 schedule also includes three Saturday dates in which both the BGSU men's and women's basketball teams will be at home. Those weekend doubleheader dates at the Stroh Center include two Saturdays in January (Jan. 9 and Jan. 23) and one in February (Feb. 13).
As in recent years, BGSU will play two games against each of the other MAC East Division foes -- Akron, Buffalo, Kent State, Miami and Ohio -- and the Falcons will meet two West Division opponents two times apiece. In 2015-16, those cross-divisional schools are UT and Western Michigan, as the Orange and Brown will face both the Rockets and the Broncos at home and away. BG plays single games vs. Ball State, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Northern Illinois.
The conference schedule begins with a pair of road games, as the Falcons face Miami on Saturday, Jan. 2, and WMU four days later (Jan. 6). BG begins the home portion of the league schedule on Saturday, Jan. 9, when defending champion Ohio comes to the Stroh Center. That is the first of three home games in an eight-day span, as both Akron (Jan. 13) and Ball State (Jan. 16) venture to Northwest Ohio during that stretch.
After a trip to the MAC's "West Coast" for a Jan. 20 game against Northern Illinois, head coach Jennifer Roos and Company will return home for an intra-divisional battle with Kent State on Saturday, Jan. 23. The Falcons have three Saturday home games during the month of January.
Eastern Michigan heads to the Stroh on Wed., Jan. 27, concluding a stretch which sees BGSU play five home contests in a six-game span.
The month of January ends with the season's first matchup of The Battle of I-75, as BG makes the short trip north for a game at Savage Arena on Saturday, Jan. 30. The Orange and Brown will have a week off before heading to Central Michigan for a game the following weekend (Jan. 6).
Then, the Falcons again begin a series of three-straight games at the Stroh. WMU is in town on Wednesday, Feb. 10, before BG battles Buffalo that Saturday (Feb. 13). And, the Rockets come to Wood County on Wednesday, Feb. 17, for the teams' second meeting in under three weeks.
Following that second UT game, the Falcons return to intra-divisional play for the final five games of the regular season, and four of those five games are on the road. BG plays at KSU (Feb. 20) and UB (Feb. 24), with the Buffalo game marking the teams' second tussle in just 12 days.
The Falcons' final home game of the 2015-16 regular season comes on Saturday, Feb. 27, as BG meets Miami. It will be Senior Day for the Orange and Brown, with the Falcons' seniors recognized in ceremonies prior to tipoff against the RedHawks.
Then, the Falcons make two in-state trips to tangle with tough opponents as the regular season comes to an end. BG faces Ohio on Wednesday night, March 2, before facing Akron in the Rubber City three days later (March 5).
The MAC schedule comes after a non-conference slate that sees the Falcons play four home games and take part in tournaments in Wilmington, N.C., and San Antonio, Texas. The non-league schedule was announced in mid-July.
Roos and her staff -- associate head coach Jesse Fleming, assistant coaches Jacey Brooks and Sahar Nusseibeh and director of operations Monique Rosati -- welcome back eight letterwinners, all of whom have started at least five games in their BGSU careers to date. That group includes seniors Erica Donovan and Miriam Justinger, juniors Rachel Konieczki and Abby Siefker, redshirt sophomore Kennedy Kirkpatrick and true sophs Sarah Baer, Rachel Myers and Haley Puk.
Those eight returnees have been joined by five newcomers, including a pair of transfers who are eligible to play immediately. The quintet of newcomers includes fifth-year senior Lauren Tibbs, junior Ashley Tunstall and freshmen Maddie Cole, Sydney Lambert and Carly Santoro.
