Souahy, Garda Named Vito's Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Vito's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are men's soccer player Alexis Souahy and volleyball player Madeline Garda.
Male Athlete of the Week
Alexis Souahy, a junior from Saint Etienne au Mont., France, scored both goals in a 2-1 win over Northern Kentucky Tuesday and then helped guide the Falcon defense to a 1-0 shutout victory at No. 22 West Virginia Friday. It marked the program's first win over a top-25 team since 2011. His two goals against NKU helped BGSU rally from a deficit and his last goal came with just 3:07 remaining to break a 1-1 tie.
Female Athlete of the Week
Madeline Garda, a senior from West Chester, Ohio, led BGSU defensively to a perfect 2-0 week with 61 digs over two matches -- an average of 8.71 digs per set. She notched 35 digs in a win at Akron, the second-most in a four-set match in program history. She then followed that up with 26 digs in a three-set sweep at Buffalo.
