BGSU seniors add to their lengthy list of honors
Bowling Green State University men's soccer seniors Pat Flynn and Joe Sullivan have been named to the 2016 Academic All-Ohio Team by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association (OCSA).
Sullivan makes the team for the third consecutive year, having earned Academic All-Ohio Second-Team honors in both 2014 and '15. Flynn joined Sullivan on the second team last season. Only one team was named in 2016.

Both Flynn and Sullivan are natives of Naperville, Ill. Flynn, an accounting major, has a cumulative grade-point average of 3.875. Sullivan, a finance major, maintains a 3.931 cumulative GPA at BGSU.
The Academic All-Ohio Team honor comes as no surprise, as Flynn and Sullivan have earned numerous academic accolades both in 2016 and in their careers. Both players were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® First Team last month, with Flynn becoming the first three-time Academic All-American in BGSU men's soccer history. Sullivan became just the third student-athlete in program history to earn Academic All-America honors twice (joining Flynn and Joe Burch).
Flynn was named to the All-MAC Team for the third time in as many years at BG. He earned all-league first-team honors in 2016 after being named to the All-MAC Second Team in each of the previous two years. Flynn led the team in scoring for the third-straight season, with 14 points this fall. Flynn tied for the team lead with five goals, and finished his career ranked on several BGSU career top-10 lists. With 28 career goals, Flynn ranks seventh in school history on that list. And, in just three years with the team, he had a total of 68 points to tie for eighth in program history. Flynn also finished his career in fourth place in school history with nine career game-winning goals at BGSU.
Sullivan was third on the team in scoring, with 11 points in 2016. His four goals included the game-winning tally against Marshall, and he also had three assists to tie for fourth on the Falcons. Sullivan leads all members of the 2016 Falcons in matches played -- having seen action in 77 of the Falcons' 78 contests since arriving at BG -- and matches started (64). Sullivan reached the 50-point mark for his BGSU career, and had 17 career goals and 16 assists. He is tied for fifth in program history with eight career game-winning goals.
Flynn and Sullivan helped the Falcons to an overall record of 9-6-4 in 2016, and BGSU finished MAC regular-season play with a 2-0-3 league ledger. BG finished second in the conference, the program's best showing since the 2002 season, and the Falcons were undefeated at Cochrane Stadium for the first time since 1996.
