McLain, Skorupski Named Vito's Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Vito's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are hockey player Mitch McLain and swimmer Maya Skorupski.
Male Athlete of the Week
Mitch McLain, a junior from Baxter, Minn., earned his second hat trick of the season Saturday in a 5-2 win over Lake Superior State. He first goal gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead and his second tally put the Falcons ahead 2-1 after Lake Superior State had tied it up. His final goal came short handed with an empty net to ice the contest. On the weekend, he added nine shots and two blocked shots.
Female Athlete of the Week
Maya Skorupski, a senior from West Chicago, Ill., won the 100 backstroke at the Miami Invitational with a time of 54.73 seconds. That time was just 0.5 second shy of her personal best, which also happens to be the school record. Skorupski beat 44 other competitors at the meet and was one of only two swimmers at the meet with a sub-55 second race.
