Senior striker earns the honor for the second time in three years
Bowling Green State University men's soccer standout Pat Flynn has been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Great Lakes Region Team, the organization has announced. Flynn was named to the second team on Tuesday (Dec. 6).
Flynn earns all-region honors for the second time in three years. He was named to the first team in 2014. Flynn is the Falcons' first two-time all-region selection in over a decade, since Fred Degand (1999 and 2000).

A native of Naperville, Ill. (Central H.S.), Flynn was one of the most dangerous strikers in the MAC during his three years with the Falcons. He was named to both the All-Mid-American Conference First Team and the MAC's All-Tournament Team in 2016. Flynn led the Brown and Orange in scoring in each of his three seasons.
Flynn started all 19 matches this fall, and had 14 points on five goals and four assists. His goal total included the game-winning tally in BG's victory over then nationally-ranked West Virginia in the MAC opener. He had a two-goal game vs. Appalachian State, and also scored in a win over Wright State and a tie vs. Akron.
In just three years at BGSU, Flynn moved into the school's career top 10 in several categories. Flynn finished his career ranked seventh in school history in goals, with 28, and he is tied for eighth in career points, with 68. He ranks fourth in BG history with nine career game-winning goals.
Flynn, who has a 3.875 cumulative GPA as an accounting major, was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team in late November, becoming the first three-time Academic All-American in program history. Flynn also is the first player in BGSU men's soccer history to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America First-Team honors twice.
The Falcons had at least one player named to the NSCAA all-region team in each of 24 consecutive seasons, from 1978-2001. Then, BGSU did not have a player named to the team for over a decade, until Danny Baraldi earned third-team accolades in 2012. Flynn and Ryan James each were named to the team two years ago.
