March 10, 2016 | Ice Hockey
Bowling Green, Ohio -- Two of the greatest hockey players in Bowling Green history will pay for BGSU student tickets for the WCHA Tournament First Round beginning Friday against Bemidji State. Hockey Hall of Famer Rob Blake and BGSU's all-time leading scorer Nelson Emerson continue to make an impact on the program.
Â
"Rob and Nelson are very proud BGSU Hockey alumni," BGSU Head Coach Chris Bergeron said. "They have been, and continue to be, very supportive with their time and generosity. Buying the student tickets for this weekend's playoff series is just another example. On behalf of the entire hockey program, and our students, Thank you to both of them."
Â
BGSU students are able to claim their free ticket for the weekend's games by logging into their BGSU ticket account. Students who had already purchased the five dollar tickets have been refunded.
Â
Both Blake and Emerson work in the Los Angeles Kings organization currently. Blake, who was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2014, is the club's Vice President/Assistant General Manager, while Emerson is the team's Director of Player Development. Emerson had 112 goals and 182 assists in four years with the Falcons, ranking first in career points and assists and second in career goals.
Â
BGSU Hockey is the No. 3 seed for the WCHA Tournament and will host No. 6 seed Bemidji State at 7:07 pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday if necessary. The winner of the best-of-three series will move on to the WCHA Final Five.
