Anderson, Gustafson Named Vito's Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Vito's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are baseball player Tyler Anderson and track and field athlete Aliyah Gustafson.
Male Athlete of the Week
Tyler Anderson, redshirt sophomore from Lima, Ohio, had a career day on the mound in Friday's loss to Kent State. Anderson pitched a career-high six innings, allowing just one run against the top team in the Mid-American Conference. The redshirt sophomore struck out a career-best five batters, and allowed just five hits. Last weekend, the right-hander blanked the No. 8 Florida State Seminoles over 4.1 innings of work.
Female Athlete of the Week
Aliyah Gustafson, a redshirt sophomore from Iowa City, Iowa, won the Mid-American Conference Championship in the shot put, throwing 51-feet-4.5 on her final toss of the day to climb from seventh place to first. She is the first BGSU shot put MAC champion since 2005 after recovering from an ACL injury 16 months ago to become the best in the conference.
