Campeche, Mexico – Following a first round score of 68, -4 under par, on Thursday, BGSU golfer Jose Narro shot a second round 73, +1, on Friday to remain on top of the player leaderboard with his 36-hole score of 141, -3 under par, at the Mexican Amateur Championship (Campeonato Nacional de Aficionados – Campeonato) held at the Campeche Country Club "El Defin" in Campeche, Mexico.
"The pins were really hard today and only two players shot under par overall and that was just -1 under par," stated Narro. "I played great all day. Just a bad club on my last hole flew the ball over the green and out of bounds to give me a finish with a double bogey. I'm still leading going into the weekend and hopefully I can do a better job calculating distances tomorrow as the wind swirls a lot on the course because it is in the mountains next to the ocean."
Since a number of players didn't finish the second round of play on Friday, the results for the second round of play are not yet considered official.
The players who didn't complete the full 18 holes of play on Friday will continue their second round at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 11.
The third round of play is tentatively scheduled to begin in the late morning on Saturday. Narro will tee-off at approximately 1:30 p.m. local time in Campeche, Mexico.
