Narro Takes Fourth at Mexican Amateur Championship

Campeche, Mexico – Jose Narro, a rising senior golfer at Bowling Green State University, finished fourth overall at the Mexican Amateur Open (Campeonato Nacional de Aficionados – Campeonato) with a 72-hole score of 292, +4, overall from June 9-12 at the Campeche Country Club "El Delfin" in Campeche, Mexico.
Narro carded rounds of 68, 73, 75 and 76 over the four day event and never dropped out of the top-five of the leaderboard over the entire 72 holes of play.
On Sunday, the Falcon co-captain turned in a round of 76, +4, which consisted of one birdie, 13 pars, three bogeys and a double bogey.
For his four days of play, Narro tallied an eagle, 10 birdies, 48 pars, 10 bogeys and three double bogeys overall. He posted a par 5 scoring average of -6 under par and a par 3 scoring average of even par over his 72 holes of play.
Aaron Terrazas of Mexico and Claudio Correa of Chile finished in a tie for first-place overall with matching 72-hole scores of 288, even par. Terrazas would go on to win in a playoff to earn the title and be crowned the champion.
It has been a busy summer for Narro, as he has competed in a total of four prestigious events since the BGSU men's golf 2016 spring season ended at the 2016 MAC Championships at the end of April, including a U.S. Open local qualifier, a U.S. Open sectional qualifier, the Mexican Open and most recently the Mexican Amateur Championship this weekend.
