Narro Sits Tied for 18th After First Round of LAAC

PANAMA CITY, Panama – After the first day of the Latin America Amateur Championship, Bowling Green men's golf senior Jose Narro is tied for 18th overall with a first round score of 71, +1.
Narro, a Tampico, Mexico native, opened the tournament with three birdies and 11 pars to sit in 18th after the first 18 holes of action in the 108-player field. On holes eight and 13, Narro led the pack by carding two strokes on the par-3 holes, and earned a third birdie on the day with three strokes on the par-4 hole number 10.
It is Narro's third consecutive appearance at the Latin America Amateur Championship, an event in which he placed 36th overall in 2016, following a 27th place finish in 2015. In the 72-hole tournament, Narro carded rounds of 69, 78, 75, 71 for a combined score of 293, +5 in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2015. In 2016, the senior marked a 72-hole score of 301, +14 in Casa de Campo, Dominican Republic.
Peru native Julian Perico currently tops the leaderboard with a score of 64, -6 after the first round of action. The Latin America Amateur Championship will continue through Jan. 15 and 72-holes of play.
