Narro Rounds Out Third Appearance at the Latin America Amateur

PANAMA CITY, Panama – Jose Narro of the Bowling Green men's golf team completed the Latin America Amateur Championship for the third consecutive year on Sunday afternoon. Narro, a senior, finished 51st overall with a 72-hole score of 310, +30 at the Panama Golf Club.
Narro carded rounds of 71 and 78 through the first two rounds to make the cut to the final rounds of competition. In Saturday's third round, the Tampico, Mexico native marked an 18-hole score of 84 prior to a final round of 77 to close out the 2016 LAAC.
In the final round, Narro earned a pair of birdies in addition to 10 par scores on the par-70, 7,142 yard course. Over the term of the tournament, Narro tallied five birdies and 42 pars through 72-holes of action.
It was Narro's third consecutive appearance at the LAAC, an event in which he placed 36th overall in 2016, following a 27th place finish in 2015. In the event's inaugural tournament in 2015, Narro carded rounds of 69, 78, 75, 71 for a combined 72-hole score of 293, +5 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 2016, the Narro marked a 72-hole score of 301, +14 in Casa de Campo, Dominican Republic.
There was a three-way playoff between Mexico's Alvaro Ortiz, and Chile's Joaquin Niemann and Toto Gana, who each earned a score of 279, -1 in the tournament. Gana of Chile went on to win the playoff round Sunday evening to claim the 2016 LAAC title and earn an invitation to the 2017 Masters Tournament.
The Latin America Amateur, which is conducted by the Masters Tournament, The R&A and the USGA, welcomes competitors from nearly 30 countries throughout South America, Central America and the Caribbean.
