Volleyball Downs Miami in Dramatic Fashion to Remain Top of the MAC

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – With a 3-1 (22-25, 25-17, 26-24, 25-21) comeback on Thursday evening, the Bowling Green volleyball program (13-9, 9-2 MAC) remains in first place in the Mid-American Conference by earning its first win over Miami (16-8, 8-3 MAC) since Oct. 31, 2013. The Falcons featured four players with double-digit kills, as well as four players with double-digit digs, on its way to improve to 9-2 in conference action.

Statistical Standouts
- The Falcons featured a well-rounded offense in which four players earned double-digit kills, where all four players also hit above .225. Leading the squad was senior Nicole Slimko and junior Isabel Kovacic, who each tallied 14 kills, while Kovacic hit .324 and Slimko hit .256.
- Sophomore Jessi Holly earned her second double-double of the season when she posted 10 kills while hitting .258 in addition to 14 digs on the night.
- After tying her career-best of four service aces in a match, junior Madeline Brandewie continued to stand out on the Falcons offense by earning 11 kills while hitting .226.
- With tonight's win over the RedHawks, the Falcons snapped Miami's seven-match win streak this season, as well as the last seven wins in head-to-head meetings, marking Bowling Green's first win over Miami since a 3-2 victory on Oct. 31, 2013.
- Junior libero Kallie Seimet continued to be a defensive force for the Falcons as she posted a team-high of 33 digs, which is her eighth 30+ dig match of the season. The Oregon, Ohio native now tallies 1,402 career digs, which ranks sixth in program history.
- The Falcons posted eight service aces at the line, tying their season-high (8 vs. Xavier, Aug. 26 and 8 vs. Seton Hall, Sept. 16). In addition to the four from Brandewie, sophomore Paulina Iacobelli earned three to tally a team-leading of 27 on the season. Iacobelli was also one of four Falcons to notch double-digit digs when she got behind 14 digs on the night.
- Overall, the Falcons held the advantage in hitting percentage (.246-.234) and service aces (8-2), while Miami marked a narrow edge in digs (83-82) and total team blocks (10.0-5.0).
- The pair of conference foes battled through an astounding 27 tie scores and 14 lead changes. The first and fourth sets were very similar in the narrow play, as the first featured 12 ties and six lead changes, while the fourth game had 14 tie scores and seven lead changes resulting in the Bowling Green victory.

- The Falcons will now hit the road to Kalamazoo, Mich. as they prepare to face Western Michigan on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. The Broncos currently lead the MAC West Division with a conference record of 7-4 and overall record for 14-8.
