Fahey Named MAC Women’s Golfer Of The Week
October 05, 2017 | Women's Golf
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Erin Fahey, a junior on the Bowling Green State University women's golf team, was named the MAC Golfer of the Week, the league announced Thursday (Oct. 5) afternoon. The honor comes on the heels of Fahey's stellar performance at the KZoo Classic earlier in the week.
Fahey is the first BGSU MAC women's golfer of the week since Patricia Holt earned the honor during the 2014-15 season. Fahey led BGSU to a 20-stroke victory at the 2017 KZoo Classic, and capped off the tournament by winning a one-hole playoff to secure the first individual championship of her collegiate career.
The field, which included six total schools and five MAC schools, was hosted by Western Michigan over Oct. 2-3, and staged at The Moors Golf Club in Portage, Michigan. Fahey carded a season-low 224 to capture the title, which included rounds of 75, 71 and 78.
The victory for Fahey marked the first individual win for a Falcon women's golfer in over three years. Her strong effort gave BGSU a team title for the sixth-consecutive season. Fahey lowered her career scoring average to 76.59, which is the best average in program history. Fahey and the Falcons will compete at the Shirley Spork EMU Invitational Oct. 9-10.
