Bowling Green State University men's soccer standout Peter Pugliese has been named to the 2017 Academic All-Ohio Team by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association (OCSA). Pugliese, a junior, earns the honor for the first time in his Falcon career.

Pugliese, a native of Cambridge, Ontario (Jacob Hespeler Secondary), has a 3.600 cumulative grade-point average (prior to the Fall 2017 semester) as an accounting major. He played in 16 of BGSU's 17 matches in 2017, making 15 starts. Pugliese had three points, all on assists, and helped the Falcon defense to seven shutouts.
Pugliese played all 90 minutes of the Falcons' 2-0 win over IUPUI in the season opener, then had an assist in BG's win at Drexel. He was on the pitch for all 90 minutes in the matches vs. Cincinnati, No. 1 Notre Dame and No. 25 Ohio State. Pugliese also played every second of the contests at SIUE, Wright State and Akron, and played 96 minutes vs. West Virginia, helping the Falcons to a shutout.
Pugliese recorded the first multiple-assist match of his career in BG's 3-1 win over Northern Illinois, as he had the primary assist on the tying goal, and also assisted on the eventual winner. Pugliese was on the pitch for all but 34 minutes of BGSU's five conference matches.
