Souahy, a native of Saint Etienne au Mont, France (Saint Joseph), played every minute of every match in 2017, and finished fourth on the team in scoring, with eight points. The center back tied for third on the team with three goals, and also had a pair of assists. He helped the Falcons to seven shutouts, including a school record-tying five in a row.
Souahy, a 2017 team captain, was named to the All-Mid-American Conference Second Team, and also was selected to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week on Sept. 5. He had an assist on the game-winning goal in the season opener vs. IUPUI, and scored the final goal of BGSU's 3-0 win at Drexel. Two nights later, he again scored the final goal as BG won at Penn.
The senior had an assist on the tying goal at nationally-ranked Akron, as BG scored while playing two men down with under two minutes remaining in regulation. Then, he scored the GWG in the final home contest of his BGSU career, a win over Northern Illinois on Senior Night.
Souahy had 17 points on six goals and five assists in his BG career, and helped the Falcons' defense record 18 shutouts in that time. He started all 55 of BG's matches during his three-year career, and was on the field for all but 29 seconds during those three seasons.
Souahy has a 3.208 cumulative grade point average as an International Business major at BGSU, and was recently named to the Academic All-MAC Team.
The Falcons had at least one player named to the United Soccer Coaches (formerly National Soccer Coaches Association of America) all-region team in each of 24 consecutive seasons, from 1978-2001. Then, BGSU did not have a player named to the team for over a decade, until Danny Baraldi earned third-team accolades in 2012. Pat Flynn and Ryan James each were named to the team in 2014, and Flynn again earned the honor last season.
