Four Falcons Earn All-WCHA Accolades, with 13 Named to All-Academic Honors

EDINA, Minn. – Four members of the Bowling Green hockey program were named All-WCHA, as announced by the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Thursday. In addition, 13 Falcons were named WCHA All-Academic.
Junior forward Mitch McLain was named All-WCHA First Team after accumulating a team-leading 32 points through 37 games played. Senior captain Sean Walker was named All-WCHA Second Team by racking up 24 points in his 38 games played thus far, while fellow defenseman Mark Friedman was named All-WCHA Third Team with 25 points in 37 games played as a junior. Freshman defenseman Alec Rauhauser was honored on the All-WCHA Rookie Team after topping his class with five goals and 15 assists for 20 points.
Previously, Friedman was named to the WCHA All-Rookie Team in his freshman season, in addition to earning First Team All-WCHA honors in his sophomore campaign. While serving as team captain in his junior season, Walker earned his first All-WCHA Second Team honor. It is the first All-Conference honor for McLain and Rauhauser.
Academically, 13 Falcons were WCHA All-Academic honorees, an award in which they are eligible for after a minimum of one year of residency at Bowling Green State University while holding a grade point average of at least 3.00 for the previous two semesters.
Seniors Kevin Dufour, Pierre-Luc Mercier and Tomas Sholl are three-time recipients of WCHA All-Academic honors in their careers, while sophomores Shane Bednard, Joe McKeown, Chris Pohlkamp, John Schilling and Adam Smith all earned their first All-Academic awards.
The Bowling Green hockey team will continue WCHA Playoffs this weekend as they take on top-seeded Bemidji State on the road from March 10-12 in a best-of-three semifinal round.
