Michael Golden Makes Donation To BGSU Men’s Soccer Program

Bowling Green, Ohio – Michael Golden, a 1969 graduate of Bowling Green State University, has made a show of support by pledging a $120,000 donation to the BGSU men's soccer team. His gift will support a scholarship for an out-of-state soccer student-athlete for the next four years.
"Michael's gift will strengthen our soccer program," BGSU Men's Soccer Coach Eric Nichols, the 2016 MAC Coach of the Year, said, "It will also have a substantial impact on the life of a young man by providing him with the opportunity to receive an excellent education and foundation for success at BGSU. You can't measure the impact of such a gift in dollars alone."
A 1967-68 letter winner in the BGSU men's soccer program, Golden graduated with a degree in business administration/human resources management. After graduation, he earned a master's degree from the University of Bridgeport and went on to become president, CEO and chairman of the Board for the Stephen Gould Corporation in New Jersey. The private, family-run company provides consulting, printing, marketing and packaging services for clients located across the United States, including the U.S. military.
As a student-athlete at BGSU, Golden excelled in soccer under Hall of Fame Coach Mickey Cochrane and was selected as a member of the All-Midwest Soccer Team. He was also a member of the Varsity Club and Zeta Beta Tau fraternity, serving as its vice president his senior year.
BGSU finished with an overall record of 9-6-4 in 2016, and the Falcons went 2-0-3 in MAC play. BG placed second in the final regular-season standings for the program's best finish since 2002. The Falcons went undefeated in the MAC for the first time in 20 years and BGSU also was unbeaten at home for the first time in two decades. The Falcons had just four seniors on the 25-man roster in fall 2017.
