Mid-American Conference Release
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- Jessica Madry, a junior on the BGSU women's golf team, was named the Mid-American Conference Female Scholar Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday (Oct. 17) afternoon. Madry is a biology major and currently owns a flawless 4.0 GPA.
Â
The native of Houston, Texas, shot a 141 to break the 36-hole school record on her way to a three-stroke victory at the 2018 Shirley Spork Invitational (Oct. 8-9). Madry opened the tournament with a career-low 71, and then the following day, topped that career low by carding a final-round 70.
Â
Of the 62 golfers at the event, Madry was the only one to shoot below par, let alone three-under par. The junior led the entire field in birdies (8) and par-three scoring (2.63), as she became the 18th player in school history to earn an individual title. Bowling Green posted a school-record 592 to win the tournament, which included four other MAC schools, by 23 strokes.
Â
Madry was recently named the MAC Women's Golfer of the Week, on top of being named BGSU's Jet's Female Athlete of the Week. The BGSU women's golf team wrapped up its fall schedule this week. The Falcons finished in the top half of every event, and went an impressive 13-5 versus MAC competition.
