Falcons Volleyball Defeats Akron In Three Sets
October 26, 2018 | Volleyball
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University volleyball program defeated the Akron Zips for the second time in the 2018 season on Friday, Oct. 26. The Falcons first faced the Zips in late September in their first pair of Mid-American Conference matches.
The Falcons will enter their final regular season home match versus Buffalo with an updated record of 15-9 overall, and 9-2 in the MAC.
Set #1: 25-16 Set #2: 25-17 Set #3: 25-19
COACH TOMIC QUOTE
"I told the team at the end, this was a different team than the last time our fans saw us six days ago. Clean win, I felt we were in control the whole match. Third set, we kind of started a little bit slow, but we got back and did what were supposed to do. We were aggressive behind the service line and that helped us keep Akron out of system, and we kept them at .009 efficiency, which is really good.
Just overall, I thought it was a good game; Isabelle Marciniak ran a good offense, and everyone contributed a little bit."
HIGHLIGHTS
• The Falcons jumped on an early lead in the first set (6-1), and gradually increased their lead to win the set by a nine-point margin (25-16)
• Isabelle Marciniak was threat from the service line in the second set. The setter scored three points from service aces which helped the Falcons go on a 11-point scoring run. Marciniak was at 26 assists by the end of the second set and averaged 13 assists per set going into the third set.
• The team registered eights service aces throughout the match.
