"We are excited to announce our 2019 schedule," said Willis, who enters her fourth season at the BGSU helm. "The opponents we will face in this spring will offer a variety of tough competition that will prepare us for the MAC. Everyone on the team is looking forward to expanding our travels this year and facing off against NCAA Women's College World Series-caliber teams."
The Falcons will head south for the bulk of the tournament schedule, with one notable exception. BGSUÂ opens the season at a tournament hosted by USC Upstate (Feb. 15-17), and the Orange and Brown will participate in a tourney at Gardner-Webb the following weekend (Feb. 22-24).
BG's third tournament of the spring will see the Falcons head to Santa Barbara, Calif., for five games from Feb. 28 to March 2. Then, Willis and her team will travel to Athens, Ga., for five games on the Georgia campus (March 8-10). The pre-conference schedule concludes with four games in a tourney hosted by Morehead State (March 16-17).
The Mid-American Conference schedule begins with a three-game series at Western Michigan (March 22-23), and the home portion of the schedule begins the next weekend, with a three-game series against Toledo (March 29-30).
The league slate also includes home games vs. Miami (April 2), Buffalo (April 12-13) and Akron (April 27), with trips to face Ball State (April 5-6), MU (April 10), Ohio (April 19-20) and Kent State (May 4). BG will step outside of conference play to face Purdue Fort Wayne (March 27) and Detroit Mercy (April 16) on the road and Wright State (April 23) at Meserve Field.
The 2018 MAC Championships are scheduled for May 8-11 at Firestone Stadium in Akron, with the tournament winner earning the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
The Falcons went 5-0-1 during the team's fall schedule, and the Brown and Orange outscored opponents, 28-4, in the six games.
Willis and her staff welcome back a total of 16 players from last year's club, and also have added nine newcomers.
