
BGSU Splits Series With Lake Superior State Following 5-2 Victory

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The No. 10 ranked Bowling Green State University hockey team rebounded after Friday's (Nov.16) loss to beat Lake Superior State by a final score of 5-2 on Saturday (Nov. 17), splitting the weekend series with the Lakers. Bowling Green scored five times on 26 shots. The Falcons were led by Alec Rauhauser, who had two goals early to set the tone for BGSU. These were his first two goals of the 2018-19 campaign. He was joined by freshmen Will Cullen and Taylor Schneider in the scoring column, as well as a late goal from Frederic Letourneau with an empty netter to seal the Falcons' victory. Will Cullen's goal in the third period was the first of his career for the Orange and Brown, with Schneider and Letourneau each picking up their second of the season. Bowling Green will take a brief break from WCHA play in their next matchup when they travel to Plymouth, Mich. for an exhibition game against the U.S. Under-18 Team. Following the exhibition, the the Falcons will resume their WCHA schedule with back-to-back away series against Alabama Huntsville (Dec. 1 and 2) and Ferris State (Dec. 7 and 8).

Scoring Plays
- The Falcons were the first to light up the scoreboard, coming with 11:38 left in the first period during a BGSU power play. The goal was by Alec Rauhauser, his first of the season, with an assist from Cameron Wright.
- Lake Superior State quickly tied it up about four minutes later with a goal from Diego Cuglietta. He was assisted by Ashton Calder.
- With just 26 seconds remaining in the first period, the Falcons struck again, this time during 4v4 hockey. Brandon Kruse broke away down the ice and placed a perfect pass to Alec Rauhauser who connected with the net for his second goal of the period.
- The Lakers answered with another goal of their own with Steven Ruggiero finding the back of the net at 10:50 in the second period. Ruggiero did all the work on his own, with no one assists coming from the play.
- In the third period, Will Cullen broke the tie giving BGSU a 3-2 lead. In his first game back from an injury, Cullen capitalized for his first collegiate goal, with an assist coming from fellow freshman, Tim Theocharidis.
- The Falcons increased their lead in the third period with just 3:45 remaining. Taylor Schneider became the second freshman to find the back of the net, with no assists on the score.
- Frederic Letourneau added on another to the Falcons' lead with 1:43 remaining with an open net goal and an assist from Sam Craggs.
Other Key Plays
- In the first period, the Falcons were on the wrong side of a 5v3 twice, but were able to survive both times without surrendering a goal.
- BGSU entered both the second and the third periods with players in the box from the previous period. LSSU also carried over a player in the box from the first to the second period.
- The Falcons continued their success against the power play, not allowing a goal when the Lakers held an advantage.

- Entering tonight's contest, Alec Rauhauser was scoreless on the season. Once he broke through he didn't stop, turning that zero into a crooked number in just the first period.
- Rauhauser also became the fifth Falcon to record a multiple goal game this season, joining Stephen Baylis, Connor Ford, Max Johnson, and Brandon Kruse.
- With tonight's goal, Will Cullen is the fourth Falcon freshman to score so far this season, joining Alex Barber, Taylor Schneider, and Tim Theocharidis.
