Women’s Golf Signs Four To National Letters Of Intent

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University women's golf program and head coach Stephanie Young have announced the signing of four future student-athletes to National Letters of Intent on Friday (Nov. 30).
Kayla Davis (Gahanna, Ohio / Gahanna Lincoln), Aly Kovach (Cleveland, Ohio / Magnificat), Amanda Maletich (Lantana, Texas / John H. Guyer) and Savannah Wyrick (Folsom, Calif. / Vista Del Lago) have signed their National Letters of Intent. All four golfers will have four years of eligibility for the Falcons.
"We are thrilled to finally announce our Class of 2019," said head coach Stephanie Young. "Each of these young women have such a unique combination of passion for the game and the ability to thrive in a competitive and team-focused culture. All of them take pride in achieving success in the classroom, on the course, and within their schools and community. They are so excited to be part of the Falcon family and I look forward to seeing them begin this new chapter in their careers."

HIGH SCHOOL: Will graduate from Gahanna Lincoln High School in the spring of 2019 … Four-year letterwinner for coach Chase Huddle … Served as a captain as a senior … Voted team MVP all four years on varsity … First Team All-Conference selection all four years, and a three-time Conference Player of the Year … Named the 2018 Central District Girls Golf Coaches Association All-District Division I Player of the Year … Posted an 18-hole average of 73, and a nine-hole average of 36.5 … Shot a 32 in 2017 to earn the nine-hole school record … National Honors Society member … National Technical Honors Society member.
PERSONAL: Full name is Kayla Elizabeth Davis … Born and raised in Gahanna, Ohio … Daughter of Don and Beth Davis … Father played football at Ohio State … Has one younger sister, Bella … Plans to major in marine and aquatic science at Bowling Green.
COACH YOUNG ON KAYLA DAVIS: "Kayla has an amazing drive and determination towards anything she sets to accomplish. It was easy to see how much she loved the game in the recruiting process. The way she goes about her work is contagious and will be such an asset to this program."

HIGH SCHOOL: Will graduate from Magnificat High School in May of 2019 … In high school, played for coaches Elizabeth Szep, Joe Meglan and Tim Kremer … Four-year varsity player … Named a team captain … All-District selection in 2017 and 2018 … Team MVP her final two years … First Team All-Conference selection as a senior … Conference and Sectional medalist in 2018 … Ranked first in the section in 2018 … Honor roll student all four years in high school.
PERSONAL: Full name is Alyson Sandra Kovach … Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio … Daughter of Joe and Jan Kovach … Father played golf at Cleveland State … Has two younger sister, Lexy and Lauren … Plans to major in business and marketing at BGSU.
COACH YOUNG ON ALY KOVACH: "As I continued to get to know Aly, her positive attitude, coach-ability and focus really stood out. She also loves to compete. These attributes are something any program needs to possess for long-term success and will help her make a seamless transition in the college game."

HIGH SCHOOL: Will graduate from John H. Guyer High School in May of 2019 … Four-year letterwinner for coaches Roddy Adams and Lance Brown … Led the Wildcats to a district championship in 2015-16 and a district third-place finish in 2016-17 … Named her team's Newcomer of the Year in 2015-16 … Earned the Most-Dedicated Award in 2017-18 … In the top six percent of her high school classic academically … Currently owns a 4.6 GPA … National Honors Society member.
PERSONAL: Full name is Amanda Leigh Maletich … Born in Ontario, Canada and raised in Lantana, Texas … Daughter of Tim and Kathy Maletich … Has one younger brother, Timmy … Two uncles, Doug (Kent State) and Mike (Buffalo) were also MAC athletes, competing in wrestling and football, respectively… Plans to major in business at BGSU.
COACH YOUNG ON AMANDA MALETICH: "Amanda is relentless in her approach to getting better each and every day. She has great coaches around her, competes with a mature composure, and has solid experience with competitive tournament golf. I know she will use this combination to reach success at the college level."
Savannah Wyrick | Folsom, Calif. | Vista Del Lago High School
HIGH SCHOOL: Will graduate from Vista Del Lago High School in the spring of 2019 … Four-year letterwinner for coach Miguel Rodriguez … Also lettered in basketball … A First Team All-Conference golf selection all four years on varsity … Led the Eagles to three conference titles, including undefeated records in conference play as a junior and senior … Guided the Eagles to a 13-0 season as a senior, and a sectional runners-up finish … As a senior, posted an 18-hole average of 74, and a nine-hole average of 36.
PERSONAL: Full name is Savannah Nicole Wyrick … Born in Sacramento, California and raised in Folsom, California … Daughter of Rex and Kelly Wyrick … Father played football at Foothill Junior College … Mother competed in horse polo at UC Davis … Has one younger brother, RJ … Plans to major in education / special education at BGSU.
COACH YOUNG ON SAVANNAH WYRICK: "Savannah brings such a strong work ethic and persevering mindset in her approach to the game. She has been a multisport athlete and loves working within a team. With these strengths, I know she can help our team in all areas."
