BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team lost to the University of Akron, 81-79, Tuesday (Feb. 20) night inside the Stroh Center. Akron hit a contested jumper with 11 seconds left in regulation to earn the win.

Redshirt-freshman Justin Turner scored on a floater to give Bowling Green a 79-78 lead with 27 seconds to go. On the ensuing possession, Akron's Jimond Ivey scored a running, contested jumper with just 11 seconds to play, giving UA an 80-79 lead.

The Falcons got a clean look for the win, as Dylan Frye attempted a three-pointer from the wing opposite the BGSU bench, but the shot did not fall. Demajeo Wiggins' put-back attempt was also no good. Akron made a free throw after securing the defensive rebound. Bowling Green was unable to get a final shot attempt off after calling a timeout with 0.8 seconds left on the clock.

With the loss, Bowling Green drops to 16-12 (7-8 MAC). Akron improves to 12-15 (5-10 MAC).

PLAYER NOTES
• Sophomore guard Dylan Frye scored 24 points on 8-of-13 shooting. He tied a career high with five triples, as he went 5-for-7 from downtown. Frye has scored 20-plus points in four games this season, surpassing his total from his freshman season (3).
• Demajeo Wiggins posted his 13th double-double of the season, as he finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds. He also had one block and one steal.
• Redshirt-freshman guard Justin Turner added 15 points, six assists and five rebounds. Turner has 423 points on the season. He's just 11 points shy of breaking the BGSU single-season freshman scoring record, which is held by currant assistant coach Anthony Stacey, who scored 433 points in 1995-96.
• Junior guard Antwon Lillard registered 11 points, six rebounds, two assists and one steal. He played 23 minutes before fouling out of the game.
• Freshman forward Derek Koch notched four points, three rebounds and one assist.
• Off the bench, sophomore guard Rodrick Caldwell, redshirt-junior forward Jeffrey Uju, senior guard Matt Fox, and freshman forward Daeqwon Plowden each added two points apiece.
