BGSU’s Season Ends With OT Loss At CMU In MAC Tournament

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team's season came to an end on Monday (March 5) night with an overtime loss at Central Michigan University. The Chippewas defeated the Falcons, 81-77.
Bowling Green finishes the 2017-18 season with an overall record of 16-16.
Playing his last game as a Falcon was senior guard Matt Fox – the only senior on the team. Fox went 3-for-5 from downtown, and finished with 9 points, five rebounds and two assists. Fox tied his career high with his five rebounds.
The senior gave Bowling Green a 65-63 lead with 1:09 to play in regulation. CMU tied the game on its ensuing possession, before earning the win in overtime.
Two Falcons fouled out in the game, as Bowling Green was whistled for 24 fouls. CMU more than doubled up the Falcons in free throw attempts, as the Chippewas avoided foul trouble all game, racking up just 15 fouls.

• Fox ends his career as a 40.7 percent three-point shooter, which ranks him fifth all-time in program history.
• Redshirt-freshman guard Justin Turner finishes the season with 492 points, shattering the program's freshman single-season scoring record. Anthony Stacey scored 433 points in 1995-96.
• Adding in the 15 points that he scored as a true freshman in 2016-17, Turner will officially go in the books with a total of 507 points as a freshman.
• Demajeo Wiggins grabbed 12 rebounds in the game, pushing his season total to 314. That number ranks him eighth all-time for a single season.
• By averaging 10.1 rebounds in 2017-18, Wiggins becomes the first player since 1974-75 to finish a season averaging double-digit rebounds. Cornelius Cash averaged 13.0 in 1974-75.
• Wiggins enters next season with 704 rebounds. That ranks him 10th all-time in school history. * Wiggins needs 108 more points and 296 more rebounds to be the third player in program history to reach 1,000-career points and 1,000-career rebounds. Nate Thurmond (1961-63) and Cornelius Cash (1973-75) are the only members of the club.
