May 17, 2018 | Women's Tennis
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Bowling Green tennis head coach Stephanie Dalmacio has been selected to attend the four-day Marine Corps Coaching Workshop in Quantico, Va., from May 16-19. The annual workshop provides selected coaches an opportunity to learn how Marine Officers are recruited, screened, and developed into leaders.
"I am honored and excited for the opportunity to continue to grow personally and professionally by learning from such a respectful organization like the Marine Corps," Coach Dalmacio said of the attending the workshop.
The Coaches Workshop is a four-day intensive leadership workshop designed to teach coaches from across the nation Marine Corps small unit leadership tactics, techniques and procedures. The workshop includes motivating workouts, lectures, leadership courses, tours and other activities lead by Marine leaders. During the workshop, coaches will gain an understanding of Marine Corps' leadership traits and principle that they can translate to their teams to foster a culture of leadership among student-athletes. The workshop concludes with the Commanding General's presentation of certificates.
The Bowling Green tennis program is coming off of a highly successful season in which the team made its first appearance in the MAC Tournament since 2014. Additionally, the Falcons had two First Team All-MAC athletes in juniors Paula Comella and Polina Radeva, for just the third time in program history. In just her second year at the helm of the program, Coach Dalmacio led the Falcons to its first wins over Ball State since 2013 and first win at Western Michigan and Akron since 2014. On the season, the Bowling Green tennis team registered its winningest season since 2013 by a 14-9 record, tied for third in the MAC by a 5-3 mark, and earned an outstanding home record of 8-1 at the Perrysburg Tennis Center.
