August 17, 2018 | Softball
Spots are still open for the Bowling Green State University softball program's Labor Day Camp on Monday, Sept. 3. Players ages 13 and up can learn from head coach Sarah Willis and the Falcons, along with special guest coach Teresa Wilson, at Meserve Field.
BGSU SOFTBALL CAMP REGISTRATION
• Labor Day Camp - Sept. 3
Wilson has a wealth of coaching experience. She won conference coach-of-the-year awards in the Pac-10 with Washington and Oregon and in the Big Ten with Minnesota. She is one of only six coaches to take two different teams to the College World Series. Wilson also coached Texas Tech, and was the pitching coach at Arizona. She currently coaches the Beijing Eagles of National Pro Fastpitch (NPF). Beijing is managed by the Chinese Softball Association and is made up primarily of players from the CSA national team pool.
The Labor Day Camp will be broken into two sessions. Session I will cover Elite Pitching and Catching. Pitchers will receive individualized attention and be able to work on essential fundamentals to enhance skill and maximize performance, while catchers will work on in-game skills and game strategies that will enhance their game management skills. Session II will feature an All-Skills portion, covering the essential fundamentals of offense and defense. Campers will perform drills and learn hitting techniques that will enhance hitting performance, and then will be able to focus on the basic fundamentals of defense. This will be geared toward maximizing a player's skills at her primary position.
Campers will be responsible for bringing their own equipment (gloves, bats, helmets, batting gloves, cleats, and tennis shoes). All pitchers will be required to provide their own catcher separate from the catchers participating in the camp. In the event of inclement weather, the camp will be held indoors at Perry Field House. Tennis shoes or turf shoes are required for the use of the indoor facility.
