Rodrigue Vie, Rachel Walny Sweep MAC Scholar-Athlete Of The Week Honors

Cleveland, Ohio – Bowling Green State University men's golfer Rodrigue Vie and women's cross country runner Rachel Walny were named the Mid-American Conference's Scholar-Athletes of the Week today, as voted on by a selection of the league's Faculty Athletic Representatives (FARs).
In order to qualify for the MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week awards, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.0 grade point average or higher and must not be a freshman or transfer in their first year of residency.
Vie, who holds a 3.750 grade point average in finance, shot -7 over three rounds this weekend at the Fuzzy Zoeller Invitational to finish fourth out of 75 golfers at the event. His 67-73-69 209 was the top BGSU result. Overall, the team finished third out of 13 teams, including defeating MAC rival Toledo.
Walny, a graduate student with a 3.666 GPA in human movement and sport leisure studies (HMSLS) broke her own school record by running 17:06.5 over 5,000m at the Mel Brodt Collegiate Opener Friday evening in Bowling Green. Walny's time broke her own school record by more than three seconds, finishing less than a second behind the overall winner at the meet.
