Wiggins Named MAC East Player Of The Week For Second Time In 2018-19

CLEVELAND, Ohio – For the second time this season, Demajeo Wiggins, a senior forward on the Bowling Green State University men's basketball team, has been named the Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week. The league office announced the recognition on Monday (Jan. 7) afternoon.

Wiggins played a key role in Bowling Green's MAC-opening victory at Kent State on Saturday (Jan. 5) evening. Wiggins posted his nation-leading 11th double-double, as he went 8-for-14 (57.1 percent) from the field to finish with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Wiggins, who was a game-high +26 when on the floor, bumped his rebounding average up to 12.4. The senior ranks third in the country in rebounding, and is averaging a career-high 15.3 points per game.

A Falcon has received the honor a total of four times on the season. Along with Wiggins' two selections, freshman guard Caleb Fields was named MAC East Co-Player of the Week last week, while redshirt-sophomore guard Justin Turner earned the honor on Nov. 26.

Bowling Green's next game – it's MAC home opener – is set for Tuesday (Jan. 8) at 7 p.m. inside the Stroh Center versus Ohio. The Falcons are 7-0 at home for the first time since 2001-02. The Falcons will enter play on Tuesday with an overall record of 9-5. Bowling Green has won five-straight games by double figures for the first time since 1958-59.Â
