Dop, Platts Named Jet's Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Jet's Pizza Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are hockey player Eric Dop and swimmer Daisy Platts.

Male Athlete of the Week
Eric Dop, a junior from Lewis Center, Ohio, backstopped the Falcons on their way to a sweep of No. 14 Western Michigan this past weekend (Oct. 18-19). Dop allowed just one goal per game as the Falcons carved out two victories against a tough NCHC opponent. Between the two wins, he was 58-of-60 on saves, posting a goals against average of 1.00 and a save percentage of .967. Dop's 37 saves on Saturday (Oct. 19) night was season high so far on the young 2019-20 campaign.

Female Athlete of the Week

Daisy Platts, a sophomore from Leicester, United Kingdom, won all three of her individual events in a quad meet at Buffalo. She placed first in the 50-yard backstroke, 100-yard backstroke, and 100-yard IM. Her time of 25.96 seconds in the 50 backstroke was a personal best, as was her time of 58.58 in the 100 IM. Platts completed the 100-yard backstroke in 55.57 seconds, the eighth-best time in school history. She also competed on three relay teams, swimming the opening leg of the 400-yard medley (placing secnd) and the 200-yard medley (placing third). Platts was the second leg of the 400-yard freestyle, helping the Falcons finish second.
