Robin Named to College Soccer News Team of the Week
November 11, 2019 | Men's Soccer
Junior defender earns the honor for the second time this season
Bowling Green State University men's soccer standout Achille Robin has been named to the College Soccer News Team of the Week. The announcement was made by CSN on Monday afternoon (Nov. 11).
Robin earns College Soccer News accolades for the second time this season, and the second time in his Falcon career.
Robin, a native of Les Sables D'Olonne, France, helped the Falcons post a pair of 1-0 shutout wins last week, scoring the game-winning goal in one of those victories. Robin had the lone goal of the night as BGSU topped Wright State on the road on Tuesday (Nov. 5). He redirected freshman Michael Montemurri's ball into the net in the 72nd minute to give the Falcons the victory and the I-75 Cup.
Then, on Saturday night (Nov. 9), Robin and the BG back line kept a clean sheet for the second consecutive match, the fourth time in the last five games and the 10th time this season, as BG topped Northern Illinois by an identical 1-0 score. The latter win clinched a home game in the Mid-American ConferenceTournament's quarterfinal round for the Falcons.
Robin is the lone Falcon to have played every minute of every match this season, and the center back has helped the Falcons to the team's highest shutout total since the 1998 campaign. At the other end of the field, he now has four goals and 11 points on the year, tying for second on the team in goals and ranking third in points.
The Falcons are 11-6-1 on the season, and BGSU has a team GAA of just 0.82 this year to date.
BGSU welcomes NIU back to Cochrane on Tuesday evening (Nov. 12). The teams will meet for the second time in four days, this time in a MAC Tournament quarterfinal-round match. First touch is at 5:00 p.m., and admission is free.
