UP NEXT IN FALCON FUTBOL
• The Bowling Green State University men's soccer team, after closing the regular season with a pair of shutout wins, begins Mid-American Conference Tournament action this week. For the second time in a four-day span, head coach Eric Nichols and the Falcons welcome Northern Illinois University to Cochrane Stadium. BGSU will battle the Huskies in MAC Tournament quarterfinal-round action on Tuesday (Nov. 12).  First touch is set for 5:00 p.m., and admission is free.
• The BGSU-NIU survivor will advance to Friday's (Nov. 15) semifinal round. The fourth-seeded Falcons or the fifth-seeded Huskies will face the top-seeded University of Akron in the semis.
FASCINATING FALCON FACTS: THE FALCONS IN THE MAC TOURNAMENT
• BGSU enters Tuesday's NIU match with an overall record of 18-17-0 in the MAC Tournament. The Falcons are 5-3-0 in home tourney matches through the years, and BGSU is 6-5-0 in the quarterfinal round.
• BG qualified for the MAC Tournament in each of the first 15 years in which it was held (1994-2008), and also advanced to the tourney every other year over the past decade (2010, '12, '14, '16 and '18).
• Tuesday evening marks BGSU's first MAC Tournament match at Cochrane Stadium in 11 years.
• The Falcons won three-straight league tourney titles from 1995-97. That was part of a run in which the Brown and Orange advanced to the championship match in five consecutive seasons between 1994 and '98. BG got back to the final in 2000, 2002, 2003 and most recently in 2014.

FALCONS VS. NORTHERN ILLINOIS IN THE MAC TOURNAMENT
• BGSU enters Tuesday's match with a record of 2-3-0 vs. Northern Illinois in the MAC Tournament. All five previous meetings, just like Tuesday's matchup, have come in the quarterfinal round.
• BGSU is 1-1-0 in home matches, 0-1-0 in road contests and 1-1-0 in neutral-site meetings with the Huskies in the league tourney.

THE OPPONENT
• Northern Illinois is 7-9-1 on the season, and the Huskies finished with a record of 2-3-0 in the MAC. Northern saw a two-match winning streak snapped with a 3-2 loss at Akron, before falling to BG by a 1-0 score on Saturday. last weekend. The Huskies scored 10 goals in five MAC matches to date, including nine goals in the three contests prior to the BG match. NIU is 4-2-1 at home and 3-7-0 on the road this year. In the conference, the Huskies went 1-1 at home and 1-2 away. Jan Maertins has 15 points to lead a balanced scoring attack, as four players have at least 13 points on the year. Maertins and Nick Markanich each have six goals, while Anthony Markanich has give. Alex Welch has a team-leading seven assists. Martin Sanchez has played in 13 of the 17 matches in goal, and has 52 saves and a 1.67 GAA. A year ago, coach Ryan Swan's team went 8-9-1 overall and 1-4-0 in the MAC.
THE SERIES
• The Falcons trail Northern Illinois, 17-13-1, in the all-time series, but BGSU has captured the last four meetings. As mentioned, the Falcons picked up a 1-0 win at Cochrane on Saturday night, with Vinny Worner scoring the lone goal and Anthony Mwembia making four saves. Last year in DeKalb, Charlie Maciejewski's 'Golden Goal' lifted BGSU to a 2-1 victory over the Huskies. Two years ago, in the teams' last meeting at Cochrane, the Falcons ended the regular season with a 3-1 win. After dropping six-straight meetings with NIU from 2007-11, the Falcons are now 6-1-1 vs. the Huskies in the last eight matchups. BGSU is 9-7-0 at home, 4-9-1 on the road and 0-1-0 at neutral sites vs. NIU through the years.
DOWN THE ROAD...
• The BGSU-NIU survivor will advance to Akron for the MAC Tournament semifinals. Either the Falcons or the Huskies will face the top-seeded Zips in Friday's (Nov. 15) second semifinal, which will begin at 6:00 p.m. at FirstEnergy Stadium.
• The league tourney championship match will be held in Akron on Sunday (Nov. 17) afternoon.
