Home Sweep Home: Falcons Tame Bulls In Three To Advance To MAC Semifinals

Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University volleyball program opened their portion of the MAC Tournament with a sweep over Buffalo at the Stroh Center on Friday (Nov. 22). The win advances the Falcons to the semifinals, to be played tomorrow, where they will take on Central Michigan with a trip to the MAC Tournament Championship on the line. The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. first serve, contingent upon the conclusion of the Ball State v. Miami match, beginning at 4:30 p.m.Â

Play-By-Play Notes
- The Falcons jumped out to a quick lead, growing to 15-8 in the first set before a media timeout broke the action.Â
- Bowling Green would continue to push in the set, growing the lead to 21-12 forcing a Buffalo timeout.Â
- The momentum carried through the timeout for the Falcons, pushing them to a 25-16 first set win to take the early advantage.Â
- The second set began similar to the first, needing a media timeout to pause play with the score at 15-13 Bowling Green.Â
- The two teams would continue to trade points until the Bulls broke the action with a timeout, seeing the score at 21-19.Â
- A 4-0 run out of the timeout created separation for the Falcons that proved to be enough for a set win at 25-21 to extend the advantage to 2-0.
- The Falcons began the third set by opening with a 5-0 run, forcing a timeout from the Bulls' bench.Â
- Out of the timeout, the run would stretch out to 9-0 before Buffalo was able to land their last point.Â
- The Falcons wouldn't look back with the lead extending to 20-9 before Buffalo's next timeout.Â
- Bowling Green didn't need much more from there, securing the 3-0 sweep with a 25-16 third set victory.
Strong Individual PerformancesÂ
- Katelyn Meyer paced Bowling Green on the attack, logging 23 kills over the three sets, just six off of the program record for kills in a three-set match. Meyer also maintained an astounding .415 hitting percentage.
- Also on the attack, Katie Kidwell and Petra Indrova each contributed seven kills to the effort with Indrova chalking up a .353 hitting percentage.Â
- The Falcons also etched their name in the MAC Tournament record book by registering 10 service aces, which is now tied for fifth in tournament history. Jacqueline Askin led the way with four, setting a new season-high. Â
- Isabelle Marciniak dished out 35 assists for the Falcons, leaving her just 20 away from moving into second all-time for career assists.
- Kidwell also reached a milestone on the defensive side. With four block assists on the night, her career total moves to 330, tying her for seventh all-time in career block assists. Â

- The Falcons advance to the semifinals of the MAC Tournament and will play Central Michigan on Saturday (Nov. 23) with a 7 p.m. first serve at the Stroh Center.Â
