Lemke, Platts Set School Records With Day One Magnus Cup Victories

Cleveland, Ohio – Senior Talisa Lemke and sophomore Daisy Platts won their events while setting school records as the Bowling Green State University swim and dive team concluded the first day of competition at Cleveland State University's Magnus Cup. Lemke won the 1 meter dive with a score of 325.20. Her score of 330.35 in the preliminary round is now the school and Magnus Cup record. Platts took first place in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:59.64, which is the new BGSU record. Platts is the first BGSU swimmer that has finished a 200 IM in less than two minutes. Platts' preliminary time of 2:01.07 is third in school history.
The Falcon relay teams were successful as well. The 400-yard medley relay team of Daisy Platts, Taylor Harris, Sarah Hennings, and Anna Eriksson took first with a time of 3:45.37. The team of Lauren Sullivan, Julianna Petrak, Michaela Ruddock, and Ashleigh Franks took tenth in that race with a time of 3:53.69. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Eriksson, Sullivan, Franks, and Noelle Lavigne earned second place with a time of 1:34.93. Shaunna Jones, Kate Lochridge, Gillian Boal, and Hennings finished tenth in the same event with a time of 1:37.09.
Sophomore Kylie Mosset finished second in the 1 meter dive, scoring a personal-best 293.55. Mosset has now qualified for the NCAA Diving Zones for the second consecutive season. She will join Lemke, who qualified for the fourth time earlier this season. Fellow sophomore Kellie House claimed fourth place in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing in 5:00.75. Along with her relay successes, Anna Eriksson scored points for the Orange and Brown in an individual race. She finished the 50-yard freestyle in 24.03 seconds to earn sixth place. In total, BGSU scored 278.5 points, placing them in 4th place of 13 with two days of competition remaining.

The preliminary events will begin at 9:00 a.m. and the finals will start at 5:00 p.m. Tomorrow's events will be the 400-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard backstroke, 3 meter diving prelims, 200-yard medley relay, and 800-yard freestyle relay. The remaining events will be held on Sunday. The preliminary session will begin at 9:00 a.m., with the finals kicking off at 4:00 p.m.
