Men's Golf Inks Evan MacLean To 2019-20 Class

Men's golf adds another Canadian to 2019-20 class
The Bowling Green State University men's golf team and head coach John Powers have announced the signing of Canadian student-athlete in Evan MacLean.Â
MacLeon is a native of Sudbury, Ontario, Canada and is currently a sophomore at Parkland Community College. As a freshman, helped his team to a fitth-place finish at the 2019 NJCAA Championships. Finishing the season with the second-lowest stroke average on the team at 74.7, he opened his career with a win at the Purgatory Invite, shooting a 5-under par 67. For his efforts, he earned a spot on the All-Conference and All-Region Teams. MacLean wasted no time this fall, setting a new career low en route to an individual win in his first tournament with scores of 66-71. His 73.6 fall average contributed to three team wins, one second and one third-place finish. During this past summer, he finished 38th in the Ontario Men's Amateur, earning a spot in the Canadian National Amateur Championship. While at BGSU, MacLean intends to earn a degree in Business before pursuing a law degree after graduation.

"Evan brings some great experience to our team with college reps under his belt already. He knows how to go low and has been in contention quite a bit at Parkland. Evan is a very motivated person who has kept improving at every stage of his career. He has high goals for himself, both on and off the course, and I am looking forward to what is in store for him at BGSU."
The men's program is coming off of a fall season in which they won their first tournament since 2017 in the Tom Tontimonia Invitational. Rodrigue Viealso claimed a title as an individual. The team will kick off their spring season on Feb. 10 in Dade City, Florida. The Falcons have seven total spring events.
